    D-Fin at the Jetty

    D-Fin at the Jetty

I took this shot a few weeks ago for Austin and Troy over at Austin Surfboards.  It turns out they are going to use it in a magazine article in England of all places.  This past weekend we went back down to the Jetty to take some more shots of different boards for the magazine.  Kind of exciting…published photos by me.  Who’d a thunk it?

This was one of my favorite shots from the two shoots.  It features one of Austin’s custom, hand-made D-fins on his Velzy Tribute model.  Thats individual pieces of wood, not paint.  Each one of those different wooden shaped were cut out and aligned by hand.  Truly amazing.  I think that he said he used cedar, basswood, and ebony.  The picture doesn’t even come close to doing it justice.  Super sweet fin on a super sweet board.  Austin is quite a craftsman…and only 24 years old.  Imagine what his stuff will look like in 10 years.  Insane I am sure.

I will post more pictures from the shoot soon for those that are interested (hopefully there are a few of you out there).

      Wow, impressive!
Part of me thinks “Bastard! I hate you!!!”

but another part of me thinks, “Bastard!! I REALLY HATE YOU!!!!”

Then these two parts of me battle it out over which one hates you more, and one of the halfs inadvertantly kills the other half, and is charged with half-self-slaughter.

If only those two halves would have remembered that jealousy leads to hate and hate leads to the dark side all of this could have been avoided.
