    EX MARQUES THE SPOT

This is a piece I worked on last summer in a class that I was taking with mom.  The medium is called Encaustics.  It is the process of heating up wax and applying pigments to it.  This piece is done on a piece of wood.  Its got a lot of texture to it that really doesnt come through in this picture.  It’s a really interesting and forgiving process…too bad the materials for it are so freaking expensive.  It’s something that eventually I will get back into…once I am ready to commit the funds.

I think the texture comes out quite well!

Love the piece, um I have created encaustics, um now don’t laugh, I use old crayons, a lamp and an old calligraphy pen. You gouge the crayon with the pen tip and then hold it over the lamp and when it melts you drizzle it on the canvas, Masonite board or wood. Cheap as hell, but then so am I. Heh.
