Nick you might also want to invest in a small 12V air compressor and a flat tire kit.

Years ago I was going through the same thing, getting flat tires. I finally decided that I would be prepared next time. So I bought my own air compressor and flat tire kit. What's really great is that most of the time if you get a flat you don't even have to take the tire off. Just find the offending nail etc, pull it out and use the flat kit to do the plug and pump it back up with the compressor. In less than five minutes you are back on the road.
