My Graffiti Artist

My youngest sister, Callie, took a photography class at school and has since fallen in love with the medium.  Its all film based and all processed by her in the darkroom.

This was one of my favorites of the images that she mailed to me.  I love the composition and the lighting.  The rest of the series with Shane and Jordan she has not scanned yet, but it was based on an assignment where she had to tell a story with pictures.  I think there were 5 photos each of them another piece to the story.  The photos she took definitely told the story she was trying to capture.  I will post the rest of the images once she sends them to me.

Shane and Jordan

This is a picture that my good friend Jeff Holladay took of the band Deathcab For Cutie (an awesome band by the way)that will appear in Nylon magazine within the next month or so.  Jeff moved to Los Angeles last August to pursue two of his passions, better surf, and an immersion in the field of photography.

This isnt his first appearance in Nylon magazine.  Slowly but surely he is getting more and more assignments.

Jeff Holladay: Deathcab For Cutie

This is an old gate to one of the many gardens at the Rotunda on the campus of UVA.  Apparently, this is one of the oldest sections on campus.  The thought that Thomas Jefferson used to walk those gardens gives me chills.

An Old Garden Gate

My Uncle that lives in California has a house in Charlottesville near my grandparents’ farm and he keeps this car there for when he comes to visit 4 or 5 times a year.  Its a replica of a 1954 Porsche 550 Spyder.  The engine in this one is from a 2.2 liter Subaru WRX.  He had it custom made a few years ago and found that driving it in Los Angeles with all the traffic and crummy roads just wasnt working out, so he had it shipped here.

So why is it in my garage?  He asked my father and I to drive it down here from Charlottesville to have a roll bar put in it at a local race shop that we have dealt with before.  Until we get it over there, it sits here…its a terrible thing huh?  I feel like Ferris Bueller right about now.

This is a picture I took of it this weekend at the farm.

This photo is somewhere around 1980 or 1981 I believe.  That is me, sitting in front of my mother’s first car….that car would eventually be my first car.  And now…it sits in my garage.
