Tonight I was going through some papers in my desk and I came across my original birth certificate.  I always laugh when I see it because the story that goes along with my footprint that is on it is hilarious.

You see when I was born I was a little bit jaundiced and had to immediately be whisked away to have tests run.  They apparently took me so quickly that my parents didn’t have the chance to fully check me out.

Before the doctor brought me back in to where my parents were, a nurse had given them my birth certificate with the footprints on it.  As you can see by the image, it appears as though I am missing a toe.  Well my parents freaked.  Lucky for me, one of my toes wasn’t pushed down when they were making the print.

Tired of Being Lazy

In the words of Tommy Boy “I passed! I passed! Oh, man! I got a D+! I’m gonna graduate!”

In June I started training in Muay Thai, and Filipino Martial Arts at my friend Ervin’s studio, I.M.P.A.C.T. Athletes. Last week I had my first test and the above is the video. As you can see, I kinda got my butt kicked and have a lot to work on. It has been a lot of work, but I really have enjoyed it. Lots of new friends and my confidence level has grown tremendously!

I passed! I passed! Oh, man!

Yeah, that’s right. My mom can kick some serious butt! This weekend, my 57 year old mother checked off another item on her bucket list when she entered in a powerlifting meet at Flex Gym in Virginia Beach. And…….she placed both 1st place in the Bench Press division, and the deadlift division for her class. The fact that she was the only one in her divisions doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that all the other moms out there were too scared! Check out those muscles!

Timaaaaay!!!

I have been needing a change lately and have been having a difficult time figuring out what that change is. As an exercise in stepping out-of-the-box (I hate that phrase) and being open for change, I decided to shave my head…making a change. Sort of like making a mark on a blank canvas that has had you stumped for a few months. Sometimes it takes that first mark to get things in motion. I consider this mine. It may sound like a ridiculous exercise to some, but I am running out of ideas. Hopefully this will be the spark that moves me forward.
