• Handicap Family Parking?

This is from a local parking lot. Sure the people that did those meant well, but they were just a little sloppy. It gives me the impression that only handicapped families are allowed to park there.

    Ugly but Happy

Saw this in a parking lot yesterday. Made me grin. That bus may be rusty and ugly, but it has a positive attitude.

    Defective Hammer

    By Nick | October 6, 2009

While putting up some new wooden siding on Christy’s house this weekend I came to the realization that the hammer I was using is defective. It kept hitting a few inches to the left. The reason I know it is defective is because I smashed the crap out of my pinky and think that it might actually be broken. Some people have told me that it is operator error, but I refuse to believe that. I am sticking to the idea that my hammer needs to be recalibrated or even replaced.

    Not Here…

    By Nick | July 20, 2009

Man…I cannot get back into blogging. It has been a struggle over the past few months. I really need to get back to it though because I enjoyed it so much while I was doing it. I guess I am just not here right now. My mind is scattered all over the place. Business has been sluggish and that stresses me out more than anyone will ever know. I’ll be back soon I promise. In typing that, I realize that it is a promise to myself more than to my readers. I hope I can keep it.

    Five Things

    By Nick | July 10, 2009

Sorry for the long and unexcused absence from my blog. I have just been uninspired, lazy and uninteresting lately. Hopefully that will change soon.

Anyways. I saw this on a blog that I follow and thought it might help kick my butt into gear.

5 Things that I am glad that I have tried so far….

    1. Bungee Jumping
I did this with my grandfather in New Zealand…truly an awesome experience.

    2. Competing in the East Coast Surfing Championship-
What a catastrophe that was…..lets just put it this way. I got a trophy for 6th place…..out of 6 people. It was ugly.

    3. Sushi-
Seriously…sushi has changed my life. I was a little nervous at first, but once I did try it , it has become a lifelong love affair.

    4. Owning my own business(es)-
I can’t think of a better way of making a living than by being a part of something you have created.

    5. Stage Diving-
I did this once at an Iggy Pop concert….it was awesome.

What are 5 things that you are glad you have tried?

If it weren’t for this video I may have had to tie my tie like a pair of shoes for this wedding. Something tells me that would not have been good. I present to you the Windsor Tie Knot.

    Mixed Media Collage Complete!

    Mixed Media Collage Complete!

First off a big thanks goes to my good friend, Dave, aka Davmo, for allowing me into his art studio and for showing me his collaging technique. To say that he was an inspiration would be a huge understatement. I have enjoyed his artwork and his friendship for a few years now. Thanks Dave.

This is my first attempt at a mixed media collage. The title of the piece is “It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” For the most part, the theme of the piece is based on my grandfather’s career in the military while working for the CIA. He was instrumental in the development of a spy camera system that was used during the cold war. Many of the images, diagrams, and text you see in the piece came from papers, books, and notes that I found while going through an old trunk of his.

I am pleased with how it turned out and am super excited about starting many more of these.

    A Fresh Batch!

    By Nick | May 18, 2009

    A Fresh Batch!

So, we went up to the farm in Charlottesville this weekend to build a handrailing on the porch steps for my grandparents and we happened across this! A fresh batch of kittens. There apears to be 4 or 5, but I cannot be certain. There are definitely 3 though. Any takers? I think that they should be ready to go to new homes in about 2 weeks.

Luckily I am at capacity with one kitten. I can’t imagine the trouble two of them together would get in.
